Trey
Mccall #25

Head Coach
A graduate of Abingdon High School, Coach McCall was
selected
as the Philadelphia Phillies' first-round draft pick in the 1985
major
league draft. He has the distinction of being the only
AHS baseball
player to have his number retired. A former recipient of the
prestigious
Pappy Thompson Award given to the Mountain Empire's
best
student-athlete, Coach McCall's promising baseball career came
to
an end due to the effects of a severe shoulder injury. Following
his
professional career, Trey accepted the head coaching position at his
alma
mater; Emory and Henry College. He later became an assistant
coach for
Ron Adkin's nationally ranked Richmond University Spiders. After
several
years as a successful banker, Coach McCall chose to return to his
high
school alma mater to take over the reigns of the baseball team. A
pillar in
the Abingdon community, Coach McCall and his wife Laura are the
proud
parents of two daughters; Catherine(5) and Elizabeth(4).
