                              Head Coach

 

                                                A graduate of Abingdon High School, Coach McCall was selected 

                                                as the Philadelphia Phillies' first-round draft pick in the 1985 major

                                                league draft.  He has the distinction of being the only AHS baseball 

                                                player to have his number retired. A former recipient of the prestigious 

                                                Pappy Thompson Award given to the Mountain Empire's best 

                                                student-athlete, Coach McCall's promising  baseball career came to

                                                an end due to the effects of a severe shoulder injury.  Following his 

                                                professional career, Trey accepted the head coaching position at his alma

                                                mater; Emory and Henry College.  He later became  an assistant coach for

                                                Ron Adkin's nationally ranked Richmond University Spiders. After several

                                                years as a successful banker, Coach McCall chose to return to his high 

                                                school alma mater to take over the reigns of the baseball team.  A pillar in 

                                                the Abingdon community, Coach McCall and his wife Laura are the proud

                                                parents of two daughters; Catherine(5) and Elizabeth(4).
