Coach Francisco is beginning his 5th season as the head coach of the Abingdon Falcons. This is Mark's ninth season with the Falcon baseball program. In his inaugural season at the helm, the Falcons sported an impressive 19-4 record. The Falcons have been in the regional playoffs in all four of his seasons as head coach, highlighted by the 2008 Region IV Championship. Prior to his acceptance of the head coaching position, Coach Francisco served primarily as the pitching coach for former head coach Trey McCall. During his tenure with the pitchers, the Falcons set a school record in 2004 with a 0.78 team E.R.A. Also in '04, a member of his staff (Nick Belcher) tossed a perfect game against Lee High and had 19K's in a game against Virginia High. In 2005, Derek Widener was selected as a 2nd Team All-State pitching selection and the Falcons' team E.R.A. was 1.43. A four year starter at UVA-Wise, Mark helped lead the Cavs to consecutive NAIA regional titles. An All-Conference performer, he was also selected as the team's M.V.P. following his senior season. In the classroom, Coach Francisco teaches U.S. History and Economics. Mark and his wife Tammy are the proud parents of three sons; Andrew(13), Thomas(10), and Luke(7).
