Heath Shelton tossed a complete game as the Abingdon Falcons defeated Carroll County by a score of 9-5 to clinch a birth into the Region IV playoffs. The Falcons had 14 hits, with multi-hit games from Seniors Luke Hilt, Alexander Nadler, and Seth Kegley. Junior Rob Bays, Travis Shrewsbury, and Shelton along with Sophomore Jacob Meade also added two hits each in the victory.

The Falcons were defeated by Tazewell 7-6 as the Bulldogs ended the game with a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the 8th inning. The Falcons were down 6-3, but came back to tie the game and send it into extra innings. With the loss, Abingdon will play Carroll County Thursday at 2:00 for the Southwest District's 3rd seed.

Jacob Meade and Heath Shelton homered and Rob Bays added a pair of hits as Abingdon defeated Marion 9-0 in the opening round of the Southwest District Tournament. Alexander Nadler picked up the victory, scattering 3 hits in six innings of work. The Falcons will travel to Tazewell on Wednesday, May 25th for a semi-final contest that begins at 7:30 p.m.

Senior Luke Hilt had 4 hits, while Sophomore Jacob Meade had 3 doubles and a sacrifice fly as Abingdon defeated Tazewell by a score of 11-8. Heath Shelton tossed 4 1/3 innings to pick up the victory, while Junior Austin Arnold notched the save. Abingdon will host Marion on Monday, May 23rd in the opening round of the Southwest District Tournament beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Junior Heath Shelton tripled and had a 3 run homer to lead the Abingdon offense, but it wasn't enough as the Falcons were defeated by Richlands by a score of 10-6. Travis Shrewsbury and Cody Hahn also added run scoring doubles in the loss.

On Senior night at Falcon Park, Abingdon defeated Grundy by a score of 8-2. Senior Alexander Nadler notched the victory, allowing a pair of hits in 5 innings of work. Sophomore Cody Hahn had three hits, while Luke Hilt and Nadler had two hits each in the victory.

Sophomore Cade Berry allowed 1 hit in 4 innings of work to improve his record to 4-0 as Abingdon defeated Marion 14-0. Heath Shelton, Luke Hilt, and Cody Hahn had two hits each in the victory.

Abingdon Junior Heath Shelton picked up the win on the mound as Abingdon defeated Grundy by a score of 16-4. Junior Rob Bays had 3 hits, while fellow Juniors Zack Totonchian and Travis Shrewsbury added two hits each to help lead the Falcon offense.

Senior Seth Kegley's solo homer in the bottom of the 6th provided the winning run as Abingdon defeated Carroll County by a score of 3-2. Behind the solid pitching performances of Alexander Nadler and Cade Berry, the Falcons improved their district record to 4-3. Junior Heath Shelton also contributed an RBI single in the win. The Falcons will travel to Grundy on Thursday for a 5:00 start and will play at Marion on Friday at 7:00.

Abingdon Seniors Luke Hilt and Seth Kegley each hit a pair of 2 run homers to help the Falcons take a 5-4 lead in the 4th inning; however, it wasn't enough as Richlands defeated the Falcons by a score of 16-5. Abingdon was unable to overcome the 16 hit attack of the Blue Tornado.

Abingdon picked up an 11 to 1 victory over Marion on Thursday night. Senior Alexander Nadler scattered 4 hits while striking out 9 in the win. Nadler also added an RBI single and ended the game with a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 6th. Senior Luke Hilt had 3 hits and Senior Seth Kegley also provided a pair of hits in the victory. Abingdon will host Richlands on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

The Falcons defeated Graham by a score of 14 to 1. Sophomore Cade Berry picked up the victory, allowing a pair of hits in 4 innings of work. Junior Heath Shelton provided a 3 run double in the top of the 5th inning and Senior Luke Hilt added three hits for Abingdon. Travis Shrewsbury and Seth Kegley also added a pair of hits in the victory. The Falcons have a busy week as they travel to Tazewell on Tuesday, May 3rd and will host Marion on Thursday and Richlands on Friday. All games are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.

Schedule Changes: The Grundy game that was postponed yesterday will now be played on Wednesday, May 18th. This Friday's game at Graham has been moved to Saturday with a projected start time at Noon. However, if Thursday's JV game at Graham is unable to be played due to rain, the JV and Varsity will both travel to Graham to play a JV/Varsity doubleheader beginning at 12:00. After weeks of technical difficulty, the website is finally up and running again. During the previous 2 weeks, the Falcons have dropped four straight games that include an 11-7 loss against Tazewell; a 9-8 loss in 9 innings against Virginia High; a 10-0 loss to Carroll County; and an 11-7 defeat against Virginia High.

Abingdon finished up the Coca Cola Classic tournament with a 6-3 victory over David Crockett High School. Sophomore Cade Berry went the distance, striking out 9 as the Falcons ended the tournament with a 2-2 record. Senior Seth Kegley had three hits including a solo homerun, while fellow Senior Luke Hilt added a pair of hits in the victory. On Friday night, Abingdon dropped a heartbreaker to Bourbon County, KY 5-4. Junior Austin Arnold had a strong outing on the hill, going the distance in the loss. Senior Luke Hilt had a pair of hits including a 2-run homerun to highlight the offensive attack. Abingdon will travel to Carroll County on Tuesday @ 5:00 and will host Tazewell on Wednesday @ 7:00

Schedule Changes: The Falcons will also host a Junior Varsity/Varsity doubleheader with Tazewell on Wednesday, April 13th beginning at 4:30 p.m. The Junior Varsity and Varsity games with Virginia High that were scheduled for April 23rd will now be played on Friday, April 15th beginning at 4:30 p.m. The Junior Varsity and Varsity games with Marion scheduled for Friday, April 15th will now be played on May 5th beginning at 4:30 p.m. Please continue to check for future changes.

Luke Hilt and Zack Totonchian each had two hits in the victory. Abingdon will travel to Tennessee High on Friday for a 5:00 p.m. game against Bourbon County, KY.

In the opening round of the Coke tournament, Abingdon was defeated by Tennessee High 3-2. The Falcons rallied to score two runs in the top of the 7th, but were unable to push across the tying run. Seth Kegley provided an RBI single and Travis Shrewsbury had a pair of hits in the loss.

The Falcons were defeated by county rival John Battle by a score of 6-2. Abingdon only managed three hits and allowed six unearned runs in the loss. The Falcons will try to get back on track this week as they begin play in the Coca-Cola Classic at Tennessee High School. Abingdon will play Tennessee High on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., Sullivan East on Thursday at 5:00 p.m., Bourbon County, KY on Friday at 5:00 p.m., and will play on Saturday at a time and a location to be determined.

On a cold and windy evening, the Falcons defeated Graham by a score of 18-0. Senior Alexander Nadler picked up the victory on the mound and also blasted a three-run homer to lead Abingdon to their first victory of the season. Senior Seth Kegley had two hits, including a long homerun in the 1st inning.

The Falcons were defeated by John Battle in their 2011 opener by a score of 11-0. Defensive miscues along with leaving eight runners in scoring position were too much for Abingdon to overcome. Freshman Clint Ratliff and Sophomore Johnathan Head supplied the only hits for the Falcons in the loss. Abingdon will travel to John Battle for a rematch on Thursday, March 31st at 7:00 p.m.

Former Falcon Justin Malone has continued to excel at the collegiate level, recently being selected as the Colonial Athletic Conference pitcher of the week. This season Justin has moved from the closer role to a Friday starter, where he has began the season with a 3-0 record. Details can be found in the Bristol Herald Courier.
