The Annual Abingdon High School Baseball Camp will begin on Tuesday, June 15th. The first session, for "Little League" aged players (9-12), will take place on Tuesday the 15th and Wednesday the 16th from 8:30-11:30. Session 2, for "Minor League" aged players (6-8), will be on Thursday, June 17th and Friday, June 18th from 8:30-11:30. The cost is $30.00. Click below to download a copy of the camp flyer.

| The Falcons were defeated 5-2 by Cave Spring High School in the quarterfinals of the Region IV tournament. Senior Josh Barker led the Falcons at the plate, while fellow Senior Zach Witt went the distance on the mound. The game was tied 2-2 heading into the 7th inning, but the Falcons were unable to respond as the Knights scored 3 in the top half of the final inning. Senior Kenny Pope singled to lead off the bottom of the 7th inning, but that was all of the offense Abingdon could muster in the final stanza. Junior Seth Kegley also had a pair of hits and an RBI in the loss. |
| Abingdon won the Southwest District Tournament Championship with a 4-1 victory over Carroll County. Senior Zach Witt pitched a complete game to tie the school record for wins in a career with 22. Sophomore Travis Shrewsbury's RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 6th put the Falcons up 2-1. After an RBI single by Luke Hilt, Senior Josh Barker blasted an RBI double to give Abingdon the 4-1 lead. Hilt and Barker each had two hits as Abingdon improved to 14-8 on the season. The Falcons will host the winner of Friday's Cave Spring/Blacksburg game on Tuesday, June 1st @ 7:00 p.m. |
| In the semi-finals of the Southwest District Tournament, sophomore Heath Shelton had 9 K's in 5 innings of work as Abingdon defeated Grundy by a score of 12-2. Senior Josh Barker and Shelton each hit 2 run homers to highlight the offensive attack. Details can be found in today's edition of the Herald Courier. Grundy will play Tazewell on Thursday in the consolation game that begins at 5:00 p.m. at Falcon Park. Abingdon and Carroll County will play for the tournament championship following the consolation game. |
| Senior Zach Witt pitched a 2 hit shutout, striking out 10, as the Falcons defeated Grundy by a score of 5-0. With the victory, Abingdon claimed the 2010 Southwest District Championship. Junior Alexander Nadler provided a run scoring double in the 2nd inning and an RBI single in the 6th to lead the offensive attack. Senior Josh Barker also provided a single and a double as Abingdon finished district play with a 10-2 record. Juniors Luke Hilt and Seth Kegley each had a double, while Sophomore Travis Shrewsbury provided a run scoring single. The Falcons will host a second round game of the Southwest District Tournament on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. Abingdon will host the winner of Monday's Grundy/Richlands game. |

| Seniors Josh Barker, Kenny Pope, and Zach Witt were honored on Senior Night as the Falcons defeated Marion by a score of 9-1. Sophomore Heath Shelton tossed a complete game 1 hitter to pick up the victory as Abingdon clinched at least a share of the Southwest District Championship. Barker, Shelton, and Seth Kegley had two hits each, including a solo homer by Kegley in the 5th inning. Details can be found in today's edition of the Herald Courier. Abingdon will close out their regular season on Tuesday as they travel to Grundy for a 5:00 p.m. start. |
| Zach Witt blasted a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 1st and Alexander Nadler went the distance as the Falcons defeated non-district rival Virginia High by a score of 14-4. Luke Hilt had 4 hits, including a pair of doubles, while Nadler added 3 hits, including a 2 RBI double to end the game in the bottom of the 5th inning. Josh Barker and Jacob Meade added two hits each as the Falcons improved to 10-8 on the season. The Falcons will honor their seniors on Friday as they host Marion for a 7:00 p.m. Southwest District match up. |

Luke Hilt, Seth Kegley, Kenny Pope, and Dakota White each had two hits in the victory. Zach Witt pitched 4 innings to pick up his 5th victory of the season. Abingdon will host Tazewell on Tuesday. | Abingdon dropped their first district game of the season, falling to Marion by a score of 9-8. Kenny Pope's 2 RBI single in the top of the seventh tied the score at 7-7 and the Falcons took the lead on a squeeze bunt by Alexander Nadler. However, the Scarlet Hurricane rallied to win the game in the bottom half of the 7th. Abingdon will host Honaker on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and will travel to Graham on Friday for a 5:00 p.m. start. |

Zach Witt picked up his 4th victory of the season, tossing an 81 pitch complete game. Sophomore Heath Shelton also provided a run scoring single as Abingdon improved to 6-5 on the season. | Abingdon lost another heartbreaker, falling to Honaker 9-7. The Falcons led 7-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth, but the Tigers were able to put together a 6 run rally to pick up the win. Zach Witt had a pair of doubles, while Cody Hahn, Seth Kegley, and Josh Barker each added run scoring hits. Abingdon will travel to Virginia High on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. start. |
| In what can only be described as a bizarre afternoon, the Falcons dropped a pair of games at Cave Spring on a windy Saturday afternoon. In game one, the Falcons were unable to hold on to a 14-8 lead, falling 15-14. In game two, Abingdon found themselves trailing 18-0 after 3 complete innings. However, the Falcons surged back, and eventually took a 26-21 lead heading into the bottom of the 7th inning. Cave Spring also responded by scoring 6 runs in the bottom half of the inning to get the victory. Senior Josh Barker provided a pair of homeruns, including a grandslam, to highlight the Falcon offense. Freshman Cody Hahn also added a solo homer, while Sophomore Heath Shelton hit a 3-run homer in the loss. Junior Luke Hilt was 6 for 10 on the day, while Zach Witt, Kenny Pope, Seth Kegley, and Alexander Nadler each had multiple hits on the day. |

Sophomore Heath Shelton tossed a complete game, striking out 10 batters, to pick up his second win of the season. Zach Witt accounted for the other Falcon run, scoring Josh Barker on a single to left field. Luke Hilt added a single and a double for the Falcons. Abingdon improved to 4-0 in Southwest District play and will host Carroll County on Tuesday. The J.V. game is scheduled to begin at 4:30, with the Varsity game to follow at 7:00. |

Junior Dakota White blasted a grand slam to highlight Abingdon's 10 run 5th inning. Fellow Junior Ryan Halsey also provided a two-run double as the Falcons improved to 3-0 in district play. Witt picked up his second victory of the season, striking out seven in five innings of work. Senior Kenny Pope also added 2 RBI, driving in the first run of the game on a base hit in the first inning. |
| Sophomore Heath Shelton allowed only one hit and had 10 strikeouts in 4 innings of work to pick up his first victory of the season as Abingdon defeated Graham by a score of 18-0. Junior Seth Kegley had a big night at the plate for the Falcons driving in five runs on three hits. The Falcons improve to 2-0 in Southwest District play and will travel to Tazewell on Tuesday, April 6th for a 7:00 p.m. start. |

The Malone brothers continue to shine at the collegiate level. King College Senior Tyler Malone and Georgia State Sophomore Justin Malone have both had stellar beginnings to their 2010 seasons. Tyler leads the King pitching staff with three wins, highlighted by a complete game victory against Georgetown. Younger brother Justin was named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Watch list after earning freshman all-american honors last season. As the closer for Georgia State, Justin recently set a school record for consecutive innings without allowing a run. His current stretch of scoreless innings stands at 20.0, having not allowed a run since April 11th of 2009. |
